Dail co-op / Flag Café
1988-1991 Broad Street, Limerick
The Dail Co-op was an entirely self- sufficient co-operative based in
Limerick. There were a number of studios, a library of art books and
magazines and an exhibition area. The Co-op sustained itself through
the running of the Flag Café, a vegetarian restaurant that also
doubled up as an exhibition venue. The Dail Co-op/Flag Cafe was an
important platform in generating a thriving local art scene,
exhibiting many contemporary art exhibitions and hosting live poetry
literary and music events. All plus 10 sorts exhibited a group
exhibition in Flag Cafe. The Arts Club also put one of their movable
feast for the arts there. Another memorable event was the now
internationally famous band, The Cranberries played one of their first
gigs in Flag Café.
Some of the artists that were inolved were Armor Harris, Lorrayne Murphy,
Diarmuid McAuliffe, Linda Moore, Oonagh O'Reilly Dyfte Fan
